However, the reality is that <strong>most people don\u2019t click on the links they receive from a salesperson they just met<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But wait, this doesn\u2019t mean that they don\u2019t like or want to click on links. They do. Your goal now is to make them <em>want <\/em>to click your link, even though they just got to know your business. To do this, you must first know all the reasons that keep people from visiting your links in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are 3 reasons why your leads aren\u2019t clicking your links, and how you can quickly overcome them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>3 Reasons Why Your Leads Aren\u2019t Clicking Your Links<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>1. The link may not even be clickable yet.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In some apps like WhatsApp or iMessage, your links won\u2019t even be clickable if a prospect hasn\u2019t responded to your message or saved you to their contacts. The link might look fine on your end, but your prospect would just be pointlessly tapping on their screens, wondering why the link isn\u2019t opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"959\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privyr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/unclickable-links-on-whatsapp-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.privyr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/unclickable-links-on-whatsapp-1.jpg 959w, https:\/\/www.privyr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/unclickable-links-on-whatsapp-1-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.privyr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/unclickable-links-on-whatsapp-1-300x140@2x.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 959px) 100vw, 959px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Unclickable links on WhatsApp and iMessage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This limitation with links has actually become the norm for many messaging apps in order to protect users from potentially dangerous links and scams. While your links (hopefully) don\u2019t fall into this category, these apps aren\u2019t able to recognise that, so here\u2019s what you can do to make your links clickable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>\ud83d\udd27 How to fix this:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your links will&nbsp;be clickable once a prospect sends you a reply to \u201cunlock\u201d the chat. Even something as simple as a thumbs up \ud83d\udc4d from them will do the trick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, in the first message you send them, just ask a simple yes\/no question to get a response from them. Once they reply, you can send them your link and it will be clickable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make sure that they do respond to you, remember <a href=\"https:\/\/www.privyr.com\/blog\/the-10-second-rule-of-messaging\/\">the 10-Second Rule of Messaging<\/a> when writing that very first message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>2. They don\u2019t have enough context to click your link confidently.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people don\u2019t click links if they don\u2019t have enough information about the sender or the link itself. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to introduce yourself and briefly explain why you\u2019re sharing the link with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But sometimes, they may still hesitate to click your link simply because it <em>doesn\u2019t look quite right<\/em>. These could be weird-looking links that look like they were strung together by alphabet soup. They don\u2019t give your prospect any context about what is inside the link. And they just look like all the other links people usually receive from scammers, fake casinos, and illegal moneylenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fileshare.net\/jkjFnkSdefd<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br>\u274c Link doesn\u2019t give any context<br>\u274c Looks suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>\ud83d\udd27 How to fix this:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can make your link \u201cprettier\u201d by adding a \u201cslug\u201d to the end of it. This means adding a short description to your link that tells people what the link is about. You can add a slug by adding a hash symbol (#) at the end of your link, followed by a short description related to your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is an easy fix that does not affect the functionality of your link. It will still lead to the same page and it will still be clickable. You may have noticed that most news sites and social networks already add these contextual \u201cslugs\u201d to their content links, which is why people are already used to reading the link URLs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By adding the \u201cslug\u201d to your link, the noticeable difference now is this: when a prospect first sees your link, it\u2019s not just gibberish to them \u2013 they\u2019ll have an idea of what they\u2019ll see after clicking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you\u2019re a realtor and you want to send a link to the brochure for ACME Residences, you can just add <strong>#ACME-Residences-Brochure<\/strong> at the end of your link. Similarly, if you run a hair salon and you\u2019re sending a link to your price list, you can add <strong>#Anne-Salon-Pricing<\/strong> at the end. By adding the hashtag, the link looks more contextualized and more relevant to your product or service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fileshare.net\/jkjFnkSdefd#ACME-Residences-Brochure<\/span><\/em><\/strong><br>\u2705 Link gives more context <br>\u2705 More relevant to your product\/service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>3. They feel overwhelmed by your message.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s tempting to give your prospect <em>all <\/em>the information about your products or services in a single message. You might even have multiple links in the same message \u2013 all of them neatly labelled so the prospect knows which link to open (e.g. Floor Plan Link, Pricing Link, Sign Up Link).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this will just overwhelm your prospect and paralyse them from interacting with you further. Receiving 10 links at a time can easily lead to information overload, forcing your lead to spend half an hour going through each and every item before they understand what they\u2019re even supposed to do or ask next.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guess what? Your leads probably don\u2019t have 30 minutes to go through your links <em>right now<\/em>. After all, they probably have many other urgent priorities throughout their day. As a result, they won\u2019t even read the full message or click on your links, and they won\u2019t even reply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>\ud83d\udd27 How to fix this:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep your first message short and sweet \u2013 just enough to clarify why you\u2019re texting them and just enough for the lead to acknowledge you. Next, when you do send your links, send them one at a time with a short but descriptive message about what it is about. Sending content in bite-sized pieces doesn\u2019t just make it easier for the lead to view the content and reply, it also increases engagement and conversation.
